As a petite woman turtlenecks just eat my head. I can't stand them. I have a few from jcrew that are very tight and thin (called tissue T's I think). They look good under dresses.

Turtlenecks emphasize imperfections of the jawline, so after 40 I had to transition to scarves...

Turtlenecks *may* possibly work, depending on what else someone has going on. You need other accessories to avoid looking so bulky. I think turtlenecks rarely work on someone who isn't very skinny, or has a large chest. You have to be pretty lean to pull one off.

This can work, since she pairs it with a cute haircut, and big hoop earring to avoid looking so stuffy up top.

I love turtleneck sweaters. I haven't worn a regular turtleneck shirt in many years, but I have bought a few of good quality for my mother at LL Bean.

See talbots and Ann Taylor, I like their quality. You also want to see Macy's for variety.

21:14 here--I've found that some of the ones I've bought at Macys tend to shrink quite a bit, especially in the sleeves...

For the love of god why would anyone pay more than $1,000 for a standard shirt?

turtleneck sweaters are ok. turtlenecks inside, say, a cardigan - that look is gone forever.

If Rick Owens and Stella McCartney make turtlenecks, they can't be entirely passe.

Scarves are a better replacement for cold weather neck-coverage.

Do you feel the same about cowl necks?
