PP here, can't afford that, either. (Though I wonder where a provider for $200/wk is located! I pay $275 in Springfield for an infant.)

OP here, yeah, I can't afford to do that. The whole reason we're using an in-home is because it's that $500-$750 less than a daycare center.

Yes. I could afford it since I was not paying center rates. My provider charged a straight $200 per child per week--infant, toddler, or preschooler. When I looked at center based rates for infant care it was often more then double what I was paying. $800 per month vs $2200 at a place like Bright Horizons.

Last year we gave each of the providers (3) a $50 Visa gift card and a small gift.

We give one week's pay.

At our day care, every family is asked to contribute $130, which is enough to give each teacher a $300 bonus. Our family also gives them chocolates and a card with photos of our child and a long note of gratitude.

We gave our in-home provider a week's bonus.

We gave our Muslim provider a Christmas card, a cash gift, and a box of chocolates. She was very appreciative.

She also held a Christmas party and gave our son a gift, so we were especially glad we had something nice for her.

We gave our Muslim in-home daycare provider a Holiday card with cookies and a $50 Visa gift card. Our 2.5 and 1.5 sons went to her home 2 full days a week, and like PP, started there 3 months before Christmas.

NP here, wondering this too. My provider celebrates Christmas as far as I know, but I have no idea what the "going rate" is for an in-home daycare provider for a gift. I think nannies get a whole extra week's pay. What do people do for their day care providers?

You could always call it an end-of-year bonus.

Our in home daycare provider is Muslim, but closed for Christmas. Are we supposed to give her a christmas gift or bonus? DD has been there three months, and I don't know how all of this works!
