Wegmans, Safeway, Giant, and Sam's are places I've bought cupcakes from. No kid complaints for any of them.

OP here. I may have mistaken the school policy for MCPS. I have a lot of friends whose children go to other MCPS schools and they have the same rule (store bought foods for sharing in classroom). I just assumed.

But yes - looking for MCPS AND kid approved since Harris Teeter was a flop last year.

Kids also like donuts from krispy kreme.

Our school banned birthday celebrations and its the best thing ever! One less thing to worry about. Plus now my summer bday boy doesn't feel even worse about his birthday.

Just provided "School safe" chocolate chip cookies to Kindergarten class in MCPS. Nut-free and dairy-free, and not too bad tasting. I bought them from Costco.

Packets of goldfish and rice krispy treats.

MCPS actually doesn't say that you can't. As far as I know, this is a school-based decision. At my kid#1's school, you can bring homemade goodies. At my kid#2's school, it has to be storebought in a package with a label.

Apparently it depends on the school. At the three different MCPS elementary schools my kids have attended, you may not bring homemade treats.

This thread reminds me of when I brought cupcakes to my daughter's 2nd grade class, and one of the kids asked if they were "from Georgetown." "No," I said, feigning ignorance. "They are from Bethesda." Left unsaid: that they were from the Safeway in Bethesda, and that I wasn't going to spend $4 per cupcake on you people.

Whole Foods, Wegmans, Giant, and Safeway all have them.

I think your search is for "kid-approved" cupcakes rather than "MCPS approved" cupcakes (provided, of course, your school allows them).
