Just to clarify for the benefit of the snarky Cleveland poster, many people who live in/travel to the Boston area fly to Providence or Manchester because they are relatively close and can be a much more economical option than flying into Boston.

I used to fly Cleveland-BWI for $19 each way. Granted this was 20 years ago. And it was CLEVELAND. But still.

BWI To Providence on Southwest usually has low fares, and sales at least every 6 weeks.

I haven't done this in a while but I used to fly to Manchester on Southwest and would get great fares.

Recently did Thursday DCA afternoon departure, returned on Monday at noon for $160 on Jetblue. Booked back in August. Both flights were full.

We went to Boston from BWI over Veteran's day weekend. Jet Blue one way, Air Tran the other. Paid less than $150 combined for both the roundtrip.

I just went to Boston from BWI. Paid $120 R/T, but I bought over the summer.

I fly to Boston a lot ( have a house on the Cape) and find that as long as you book in advance it's pretty cheap. We fly jet blue or the us airways shuttle. Never fly to Providence anymore -it's typically much more expensive than Logan. Early am flights are sometimes cheaper but the main driver really is just booking 3-4 weeks before.

SW a week n advance is usually $150 rt.

Im interested in the same information. I have a related question, is it any cheaper to fly into providence or another nearby city airport?

I book jet blue months in advance for my family. Sign up for their emails. I usually pay 170-240. Anything more than that we drive or don't attend.

Airline consolidation has meant that there are way fewer flights to Boston from the Washington area. For direct flights, your choices are really USAir and JetBlue. USAir has Wednesday Esavers, but DCA-BOS is rarely on there, and when it is, it's not cheap ($300.) I also remember a decade ago going to visit my sick mother every weekend for $100 or $150 rt, but you'll almost never find that these days.

Which airlines are good?
What days are better to fly?
Are there better deals depending on when I book?

Years ago, when I was dating my future DH, there was an email I'd get (or a website I'd check) every Wednesday for one of the airlines and they would have great last minute weekend deals to/from Boston to National and vice-versa. That kept us seeing each other every other weekend. I think that website was responsible for our marriage! But I can't find it.

DH's brother and family lives there and I want the cousins to spend time together. So I'm looking at something that will encompass at least part of a weekend…
so departure could be Fri afternoon or Sat morning, return Sunday I guess.

Any advice?
