Try to make your own!
Peel a bunch of onions.
On the bottom of 3 pint jars, put a few cloves of garlic, a cut up chili pepper, and some mustard seeds. Add onions.
Boil 4 cups of malt vinegar, when rolling add 1 cup of brown sugar and 2 tbsp salt. When dissolved pour over onions and when room temp refrigerate.
I'd mix up the jar seasonings. Maybe a bay leaf if one? Maybe do vinegar with 2 cups white and 2 malt?

I should really make my own...what I really need is to win the lottery or my wife to double her salary so I can devote myself full-time to artisanal pickling...

I add my own horseradish to store bought cucumber pickles to heat them up. It might be worth experimenting with dried chiles and the pickled onions at World Market to see if you can get close to the taste.

Nothing else will do - unless anyone knows of any super-spicy pickled onions?

Does it have to be that brand? You can find pickled onions in middle eastern food markets. Maybe even Russian ones.

I miss them so much I could cry. I found a place I could order them, but with the shipping from the uk it would work out at about $20 a jar. I am not sure I can justify that.
