My 8 and 11 year old DDs wear them. That's what is for sale where we shop. They are both very thin and in amazing shape (both competitive athletes). I would rather jeggings or skinny jeans than clothes that hang off of them. With more traditional pants they end up with "bubble butt" because to get the length they need we have to get pants that are way too big in the waist and seat.

For a tween, yes that's inappropriate, imo. You might want to read, "All Grown Up and Nowhere to Go" by child psychologist David Elkind. He alerts parents to the consequences of allowing children to dress like older teens.

OMG my 11 year old makes so much fun of these! I don't think many kids wear them.

My girls have lots of jeggings, mainly because dresses these days are so short they might as well be tunics. I swear the clothing companies are saving money by skimping on hem length.

I am more freaked out that you referred to you husband on a forum, to adults, ad "daddy" than I am by jeggings.

I teach my daughters about dressing for their body types, buying quality over cheap material, and dressing for the occasion. If jeggings fit those, fine.

I would never buy skin-tight clothing for my children unless they were tights, gym/ballet/swim things. My teens may buy within reason and with their own money something they like, however. Not the younger set.

Ok, I feel a bit weird being on the other side of this with you, OP, because I'm the mom who's always harping on making sure my DDs are dressed appropriately. I also moved from Los Angeles, and all I can say is thank goodness for cold weather because the LA high school girls look like street walkers year-round. My kids wore uniforms, a necessity there.

I do feel jeggings are a bit tight (my kids' are from Old Navy). But my DDs' don't totally hug; they are not skin tight. Maybe your DDs are wearing a too-small size?

Daddy took our twin girls shopping on an emergency jeans run this afternoon. Jeans we bought in August are suddenly too short. They came home with jeggings- I've never heard of them before. threy are stretchy combination of leggings and jeans. I think they are nasty- skin tight. DH called from shopping asking how I felt about tight jeans and I thought he was talking about just that- slim jeans so i said OK. Well - these knocked my socks off. The strange thing is DD1 is the one who really begged for them and she is meatier than her downright skinny sister who does not like them!!! Skinny sister likes roomy clothes like yoga pants with elastic waists and knit material. But she does have some sensory issues so I can understand it.

How do you feel about these jeggings?
