We also cancelled our Ohio trip! Went to our Giant and loaded up on the basics. Even got a pre-cooked, frozen turkey. Last-minute Thanksgiving is on!

Every year the fresh sage is gone by the time I shop but I can usually find everything else last minute.

I am not going to Ohio, either! Harris Teeter had a ton of fresh turkey breasts last week. You could buy one today and just freeze if if you don't end up coking it Thurdsay.

No idea - my DH would never consider preseasoned. He doesn't do a mirepoix (which I tend to think of as relatively finely chopped), just tosses in coarsely chopped carrots, celery, onion, etc. We preordered ours so I didn't ponder the other choices, just noticed that there were plenty of them. They had everything else on my list as well, although the chestnuts were crazy expensive.

OP here. Thanks, all! Now I feel a little less stressed. What also helped was a random stranger at Trader Joes who saw me struggling with a cart, two kids, and a pregnant belly in the rain today and without even asking, loaded all my groceries into the car while I strapped in my kids and then said he'd return the cart for me.

Sorry for your change of plans. You will have no problem buying everything today or tomorrow or even Thursday! You can even buy a whole turkey, if you want. Giant, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods ... have plenty.

Wegmans is open on Thanksgiving day and are advertising they will keep their hot bar stocked with all the fixings.

I found everything I needed at the last minute at Whole Foods. I don't think you will have a problem.

Since you already have the basics, go pick up potatoes & sweet potatoes today - they will keep for weeks if you end up going out of town. I would call honey baked ham and see if they have any turkey breast left.

We did this last year and were able to buy everything easily on Wednesday. We did do a whole turkey though, not just a breast so not sure if those would be hard to find.

It looks like we're going to have to cancel our plans to drive to Ohio tomorrow, but we may try I drive on Thanksgiving Day instead. It w,l probably be a last minute decision. If we do stay here, I have an almost empty fridge and would have to buy food for Thanksgiving dinner late Wed or early Thurs.

Anyone have experience with shopping so late? Will I still be able to find the basics? I don't need (or want) to cook a whole turkey, but I will want at least a turkey breast. I bought pie supplies today and other pantry ingredients (butter, stock, etc), but I have no fresh veggies or meat. It's just me, DH, a 4 year old, and a 19 month old, so we don't have to make a ton of food, but I do love Thanksgiving food and would be sad to eat pasta on Thanksgiving Day!
