Most maybe, but not all.

All erect penises have the foreskin retracted. Perhaps the wife has never seen the penis flaccid.

If the woman isn't all that experienced, she might not be able to tell for sure. There are uncut men with very little foreskin. It's like the variation in women.

I remember a guy in my freshman dorm in the early 1970's was traumatized to find out that he was circumcised. Of course he knew what his own penis looked like! But for some reason, it had never dawned on him that something had been done to it when he was a baby. It was rare to be uncircumcised if you were born when we were born (mid-1950's). But I guess it was a subject he had never heard about until he got to college, or he had heard about it but had never seen any penis in a locker room or bathroom or elsewhere that looked markedly different from his own, and he probably just assumed they were all uncircumcised.

Point is, people can even be ignorant about their own bodies if things aren't discussed in their families.

(The only uncircumcised penis I have ever seen was a baby's. I haven't even seen a photo of a grown man's uncircumcised penis. Of course I would know if I ever saw one, based on descriptions and my familiarity with circumcised one. But again, if someone grew up not hearing such a discussion, I could understand why a woman might not have a clue.)

Say, you're dating a guy, bring him home, you're in the dark, about to have sex. Do you stop and say 'excuse me, let me turn the light on and look closely at your penis.'

No, but if you touch the head of the penis or even part of the shaft, it is pretty obvious if it is circed or not.

It's like when someone asks you what color are your cat's eyes and you realize you don't know and the cat has been there for 10 years.

But wouldn't the wife know what it means to have a circumcised vs not? I mean I suppose someone could have grown up very sheltered where they didn't take any health, anatomy, etc classes but when I saw my first penis, I knew if it was uncircumcised or not. And I'd never googled pics of it (considering google didn't exist!)

That the wife either has no idea what a cir/uncirc penis would look like and is very naive, or that the wife is no involved with her husband's penis for whatever reason.

What a strange post.

if you have been married for 10+ years and you don't know if your husband is circumcised or not.
