I work at Deloitte, have an MBA from a top 3 school, and the average grad is certainly not making $150k out of school. Closer to $90k.

Will definitely check it out... I need every edge I can get!

I can't speak to career trajectories, but in the meantime if you're looking for actual skills, check out Udacity online courses. I've only done them for interest, but I believe they do have certification programs now.

But my experience was the classes were well set up to actually teach the skills, so are valuable for that. I did the intro Python class, and am now looking at doing some of the Big Data classes.

OP here- Ugh. That is disappointing.. Late twenties here, had my kids in my mid-twenties and just looking to get started in a career now. This is so frustrating and overwhelming. I want to choose the right field as I am clearly way passed typical entry level age.

MBAs are oversaturated right now. An MBA is the new JD, and their enrollment numbers will soon start to reflect that.

Agreed. I have a top 10 MBA and don't make that kind of money.

OP here. looking at UMUC's online offerings in IT and cybersecurity looks like you can go on to earn an MBA after if you want. Their IT school is a NSA approved center of excellence.

Anyone gone through these programs or can speak to whether the degrees there are worth it? I will be looking for entry level IT/security gigs if I go this route and pursuing compTia certification on the side.

IT, engineering. That's where the growth, money and flexible hours are. Especially programming

What are the hot growing fields right now? Longterm staying power and decent pay? (50000+ entry level)

What do you need to get your foot in the door? BA MS PHD, in anything or specific?

SAHM heading back to school online for more specific graduate education (useless humanities MA already)
Why online? At home with Infant with special medical needs (nothing major, but hiring a caretaker MAT cert is out of our budget) her docs don't want her in daycare until 18mo which is 9/14.

I was looking at: mBa, information assurance (would need to study for certifications too but im a bit techgeeky), foreign languages (fluent in 2 already but no degrees) or.....?

Anyone want to bite?
