How do either of these systems compare to Quicken?

I've used Mint in the past and never had any trouble. But if you are looking to budget it mostly helps you see where your money went vs planning how to spend it. Check out YNAB instead. Also there no linking to your bank accounts.

I've also used Mint for years with no problems. Makes it much easier to track my many accounts.

So then where are they stored?

I've been using Mint.com for a year now. Good tool for tracking of all your expenses. It uses same encryption as other online banking, and does not allow fund transfer, so no need to worry about money disappearing.
No system in the world is hack-proof, but you should be fine as long as you maintain good safeguard when using your computer.

It's all the same technology that most brokerage houses are using. You can track your accounts through just about any bank.
That said, I'm starting to hate Mint, it makes me feel so guilty, when in all actuality, I have two kids under five, I gots expenses and they ain't shoes.

No problems. It is just as secure as online banking.

I see that I can link my back account to Mint.com. I'm terrified of doing this and I know my husband wouldn't plug in the numbers for the fear of identity theft or someone hacking the system. However, we definitely need to budget. I have seen Mint mentioned here on many occasions, so I assume you all have done this with no problems?
