That site has the rep of being for casual hookups, not serious relationships.

I'm on okc and like it. I don't respond to a lot of just one-liner messages. So definitely need to weed out. But I have also answered to over 1500 questions and my profile is pretty good with lots of details. Apparently not everyone is very sincere in there, but you do find some that are. I am a female in my late 30s. I am recently divorced with kids and I think that is the biggest challenge. But since I'm not ready for my next relationship, I'm enjoying myself and meeting new people.

I have a friend who used a couple of the dating services and he had probably 1-2 hundred first dates-- which were just meeting for coffee-- and maybe 20 second dates, and maybe 5-10 third dates before he got married. I'm not sure it's reasonable to expect someone to give you 3 dates to "click."

I did Match and OKC.

Match was a waste of time and money. I had two dates off of it in my 3 month trial. I had several emails and winks and likes and stuff...but mostly from men out of my geographical area or age range or something. Or I'd email back and forth a few times, then they would disappear. Just not worth the cost.

OKC was more active and I've had more luck with it...but a LOT of players and men looking for hookups. Not a lot of serious guys on there. Since its free...I will keep up my profile and all. I like the questions...its an interesting view of others and their likes/dislikes/intentions and seriousness. I would definitely check it out, but keep an open mind about it. You may or may not find a decent or good match on it, but it's a good way to meet a bunch of people.

I would try other things to meet people, too. Find a meetup group of an activity or hobby you like.

My experience: I have met some very nice/beautiful/interesting women through all of them, however I have yet to get past one or two dates without hearing the dreaded 'you're a nice guy but they don't feel any chemistry.' I guess it depends on your demographic and what you want - maybe the pickings and odds are better if you're in your late 20s/early 30s, never married and no kids.

I've had lots of interest from women on both okcupid and match but no real 'matches'. I'm not one for the bar/club scene and have limited free time to 'be out there', as I'm a single father in my early 40s, looking for women +/- 7 years of my age - and the pickings aren't that great. As women can certainly attest to not being able to find too many good men, I can at least say there aren't so many women in my age group who are relatively well balanced.

I'm in my 40s. Is OK Cupid a good site for that age range?

DH and I met on OKCupid, we have 2 friends who are engaged to people they met on OKCupid, and another 3 friends who are dating someone. We are all in our late 20s, early 30s. So I think it is a great site!

Does it really help to answer questions? Some are hard to say yes or no to. Answered a few of the sex ones but kept answers private. Most I skipped. Great to hear it only took three dates!

I disagree. I have discovered that you do better w/someone who has a little "skin in the game", so to speak. I.E. someone who cares enough to pony up a few dollars. You find freaky ass people on ok cupid and the other free one.

I met my husband on eharmony. I didnt find too many overly religious freaks, but I wouldn't even start exchanging messages with those who clearly were big fans of the big JC.
