Breech baby. Her legs were fine at birth. She was a twin and the doctor said, please, do not try to move her around in utero. 100% healthy normal baby.

8:42 here again- one thing that is cute is she still likes to fall asleep lying across me in the position she was in in the womb- head under right side of ribs, legs slung across to the left. I can get her to lull almost immediately if I put her in that position.

I ha a c section for a frank breech baby 2 weeks ago today. No hip issues though they will check the joints for "clicking" when the baby is born. The ped has recommended we get an ultrasound at 6 weeks to check there's no hip issues from ring breech but so far the baby does not seem to exhibit any and has typical legs. You wouldn't know she was breech at all looking at her.

You could definitely tell my DD was breech for the first few days. She looked like a little cheerleader doing a jump. Her legs were in the air pointing up toward her head. It was kind of cute. Like a PP said, all the nurses knew she was breech. It's not odd or alarming.

I was also a breech baby, born breech actually, which I realize they don't deliver vaginally anymore. My legs were in my face for a while but I never had any hip problems.

My daughter was a complete breech and suffered no ill effects. Legs were not at odd angles and no hip dysphasia.

My sister was frank breech. She sucked her toe for years, but no other problems.

I was a breech baby! I'm 30 now and I've never had any physical problems.

Our daughter was breech. She definitely had her legs up in the air a fair amount when she was tiny. One day she fell asleep sprawled across my lap and at some point her legs slowly went up in the air until she was folded in half. That happened when she was a week or so old. Had an ultrasound for hip issue screening around 10 weeks but everything looked good.

I want to add that I had hip dysplasia, so both my kids (one breech, one not) had an ultrasound to rule out any hip abnormalities.

My now-teenager was a breech baby. His legs were bent up in the air for a few days; I clearly remember the nurses and others coming into my room, seeing him, and saying, "oh, breech, huh?". He never had any xrays or further testing, and has had absolutely no physical issues.

Your baby will need an xray/ scan at 4-6 weeks to check the hips. You won't know if you will need PT until around 6mos.

I'm 35 weeks and baby remains frank breech. Not a candidate for external cephalic version, and I'm already familiar with the spinning babies website.

I'm interested to hear from those who have had a breech baby, especially frank breech.
-Were the baby's legs bent at an odd angle right after birth? If so how did this affect things and when did the legs look less alarming?

-I've read hip dysplasia can be an issue. Did your baby do physical therapy?

- Anything else I should know?
