I know there are several threads on this but I don't have time to search them all out!
We are a young couple with a young child, our HHI is probably around $100k, we more-or-less live within our means though we really don't have much in the way of savings (retirement, college, or general/emergency funds). We could really use some help in terms of setting up those types of accounts (IRAs, 529 plan, etc) and just in general getting ourselves on track, a financial tune-up if you will. I think what we need is a fee-based financial planner, but what kind of fee are we talking about? I spoke to one planner who would charge $900 for a one-time meeting! That's a lot of money for us to part with all at once on something that isn't an emergency.
