I love Ina Garten's Spinach Gratin--the recipe can be easily searched on the Food Network site. That stuff is freaking delicious!

This is how I make cranberry sauce:

First, drain a small can of crushed pineapple and save the juice.

Cook a bag of cranberries according to the package directions, only sub out the reserved pineapple juice for the same amount of water. I also usually cut the sugar in half; it's plenty sweet without.

When the cranberries have all "popped" and are cooked, I add in the crushed pineapple, a couple of containers of raspberries, and some crushed walnuts or pecans. Then I mash it all together with a potato masher.

Let it cook for a while longer until it thickens. Chill overnight.

Cape Cod Chopped Salad--Ina Garten

Ingredients
8 ounces thick-cut bacon, such as Niman Ranch
8 ounces baby arugula
1 large Granny Smith apple, peeled and diced
1/2 cup toasted walnut halves, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup dried cranberries
6 ounces blue cheese, such as Roquefort, crumbled

For the dressing:
3 tablespoons good apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
2 1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
Kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2/3 cup good olive oil

Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Place a baking rack on a sheet pan and lay the bacon slices on the rack. Roast the bacon for about 20 minutes, until nicely browned. Allow to cool.

In a large bowl, toss together the arugula, apple, walnuts, cranberries, and blue cheese.

For the dressing, whisk together the vinegar, orange zest, orange juice, mustard, maple syrup, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and the pepper in a bowl. Slowly whisk in the olive oil.

Chop the bacon in large pieces and add it to the salad. Toss the salad with just enough dressing to moisten. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt and toss well. Serve immediately.

17:31 that sounds very similar to the recipe Stephanie Klein gives on her website.

Mine is mashed potatoes with lumps, and tiny bits of crispy bacon. I won't waste space writing out how to make it - it's exactly like you think.

If you have a favorite side dish that you cook and bring to your annual family's Thanksgiving dinner, could you share it here and include the recipe?

P.S. I hope this doesn't get moved to the cooking forum; there is a lot more traffic here!
