Toscana on 2nd St NE by F St. Wonderful food, quiet spot. I love that place.

Also like the Monocle and Art & Soul.

Another vote for Cafe Berlin. Good German food, although kind of on the heavier side.

Another vote for Bistro Bis. I used to work over there and it was my favorite spot for drinks and dinner after work.

A few months ago before we moved here, we stayed in the hotel where Bistro Bis was and ate there the whole time. It's what you want--super close and you can get a booth and chat in the back part and it's not noisy. And great food.

I agree with 14:24, in that order.
Though you could choose among them by cuisine. Do you want fancified bistro food, fancified seafood, or fancified comfort/soul food?

Yes, definitely (1) Bistro Bis, (2) Johnny's, or (3) Art and Soul in that order. Monocle is too far of a walk and too old-school dreary.

Bistro Bis for sure.

Café Berlin. There is also a French place upstairs that is okay.

Bistro Bis was my first thought. Johnnys Halfshell would be my second.

Art and Soul and the Monocle might be other possibilities.

Art & Soul isn't too far.

Johnny's Half Shell is decent

I hear the restaurants in the station itself are the pits, so I hope someone can help.

A dear friend, whom I haven't seen in ages, is coming to town through Union Station and will have a couple of hours for dinner before her first work-related commitment. She'll have her suitcase, so we don't want to walk too far.

I'm looking for a place with a nice atmosphere, good food and a decent wine list. Bistro Bis looks good. Any others?

Thanks, all!
