Can you say whore? Because that's pretty much what you are calling yourself. You pursued a wealthy married man, so you clearly care nothing for honor or integrity. So I guess selling your body for "Hermes, Aspen, and after-parties" shouldn't surprise the people who know you.

I would. The age difference is very often a result of the young, pretty girl wanting to take advantage of the older man's resources or social status. That's a far cry from couples of different races or religions falling in love.

And the man?

PP, how old are you and DH currently? What age did you get together?

I'm the May in a large age difference relationship. DH certainly wasn't rich or married when we met and married. Yet, we found ourselves judged and critiqued by a number of people, including some very nasty comments directly to my face from women closer to his age.

People will always find reasons to talk or be nasty about anyone if they want to.

Personally, I wouldn't judge an age difference in a marriage any more than I'd judge a race or religion different. I would judge a couple for an affair, though. Just being honest.

Perhaps I am. I just want to know if this is an acceptable consequence of living and working in Washington, or whether I will be socially looked down upon.

Why do you ask? Are you pursuing a wealthy married man?

I do not quite believe this. I have seen some good marriages terribly undermined, if not shattered because of the often-irresistible temptation of new, exciting sex.

You saw these divorces where? Television?

Actually all the time here in DC. Look around your wealthy neighborhoods, your privates schools, your high-end gym, your expense account restaurants, Capitol Hill, the well-known lobbying outfits and law firms. These trophy wives of May-September marriages to powerful, wealthy, well-connected individuals are literally everywhere.

Precisely. So, in the end, one spouse decided to cheat or divorce. As the first PP said "... The only people that can cause a divorce are the two that are married.".

Gold digging is a career. 99% women after married men. The 1% of men are like John Kerry.

How often do you think that divorce in this area is precipitated by a woman pursuing a wealthy (though married) man? Or, a man pursuing a wealthy (though married) woman?
