I like that he's accessible. He gives a little speech each morning at the start of school but before that he's not hiding out in his office - he's in the common area and walking around the hall, talking to kids and parents.
I like that he doesn't do that condescending phony thing the principal before him did.
I like that he knows his kids. On Math Night (math games) you could pay money to buy a dinner. We can't afford that, and he saw DD running by, told her the school had too much extra food and invited her to eat, for free.
I like that he knows how to pronounce my kid's full first name, and not just the easier shortened portion of it.
He's relate-able (is that even a word?). He and his partner walked by us one weekend afternoon and while DD played with their dog, we stood around chatting about non-school-related things for a solid 20 minutes. I like that as a person, I like him.
