Maybe they got into a price spat with Nabisco and had to start repackaging Hydrox instead. . .

To me, the Trader Joe Joes have a faintly fishy aftertaste. And Oreos are too sweet. I miss the old lard-filled Oreos of my childhood.

I agree!! I used to prefer them to Oreos but no more. Something is off. They taste like Hydrox now.

Maybe they took out the trace amounts of trans fats? Old batch? I've never had them. I just mourn the loss of the regular (instead of one cookie plus cream filling) Oreos covered in mint chocolate. And Hydrox, but that's another thread.

Maybe they finally removed the MSG?

Is it just me? I discovered these last Christmas and was instantly addicted. The cream was just perfectly soft and creamy and melt in your mouth delicious. The peppermint holiday ones disappeared for the stores, and I was relieved for the sake of my waistline. Much later in the year, in a weak moment, I picked up a box of the regular ones. The cream was completely different. Dry, thick, clumpy - not creamy at all. I thought maybe it was just a box that had been sitting around for awhile. But I just saw, and of course bought, the peppermint ones, and they taste completely different from, last year. Thick, dry, etc. did they change their recipe?*
*i do realize I should be grateful that my obsession has dwindled.
