Really? Maybe your kid will know the difference, but not all kids will, or if they do they won't care.

I didn't have a real cabbage patch doll growing up, even though all my friends did. We were poor. I grew up to be a strong , independent woman who has a close relationship with my mother DESPITE the horror of not having the "popular" doll.

The Target ones are great, same quality as the AG ones.

My SIL swears by the ToysRUs Journey dolls.

Because they are 125$ & not everyone has that kind of money to spend on a doll. The target ones are the same size so you can buy a few AG outfits if that's something your daughter is really into.

I second the Madame Alexander ones. Sometimes you can get them at Costco.

DD has a target one and 2 AG dolls. The Target one is very similar. The only thing that isn't as good is the hair. it seems to tangle more easily.

The Target one is great unless your child is clamoring for a specific AG doll. The Target accessories are also very good and much cheaper.

Believe it or not Madame Alexander I think makes a prettier and cheaper doll. We have both.

Get one used, on eBay, one of the facebook AGD groups or Craigslist. That is how I get mine for DD

Agree that the Target dolls are pretty good. ESP for my 5-year-old who couldn't care less.

We got the target doll and some accessories to hold us over and its been working just fine. I got her one authentic AG dress that makes her doll "look real for parties". The dimensions are exact to AG and the facial features are pretty close. I was going to get her the real deal this christmas but she is doing just fine with the Target line. Will prob add some additional outfits and call it a day. DD is 8.

Genuine AG doll is not an option. What is the best alternative for a girl who wants an AG-type doll? (She is not aware of the difference between a "real" one and others she has seen in catalogues)
