I don't recall the brand but I have the one that Alton Brown reccomends. It was about $20 and I did have to get a new probe after a couple of years.

I'm not even sure what these are called. But they are the thermometer you stick in the meat before you cook it, leave it in the oven, and connects to an alarm that tells you the temp. The ones I've had in the past end up breaking or are not accurate, and I have yet to replace. I really need one for the Thanksgiving turkey so am shopping now. I recently got a Thermapen which I love but I don't think it makes sense to be taking the turkey in and out to check the temp. I see Thermoworks sells this Chefalarm [http://www.thermoworks.com/products/alarm/chefalarm.html] but not sure I want to spend $60. It does have 5 stars review on Amazon. Does anyone have this thermometer? Or can recommend a great one that is under $60? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
