I am an adult in a professional job and if my manager requested a last minute department meeting on a Sat. at 3pm , I would say no, Sorry, too busy on my own time.

Schedule during the week at a reasonable time and make sure I am compensated.

no chance I'm coming in on a Saturday on short notice.

Let me guess? You make your staff come in a half-hour early and leave a half-hour late (all unpaid) and this mandatory 3pm meeting is also unpaid.

Just because someone is 17 and presumably working a low skill job doesn't mean their manager owns their free time.

So what's the point? The title says, "Ex employee is driving me nuts," but there's no mention of anything after she quit.

On Thursday of last week I called all of my employees and said there was a mandatory meeting on Saturday at 3 pm. One girl texts me and says she can't come because of a hair appointment. I told her I'm sorry but if she isn't there then she needs to turn her things in(this isn't the first problem btw--more like her 5th strike). So she comes in at 2:30 on saturday. I ask if she will be at the meeting and she throws her uniform at me, snatches her check, and throws a letter at me that says she is quitting due to lack of hours. I thought the letter part was hilarious because when I tried to give her more hours she called and asked if she could go home an hour into her shift because she felt "nauseous".

It gets better though! At 3, her father calls me! He is demanding to know why I fired his daughter. I told him everything she did over the past 2 weeks she worked and then explained that she quit.

I looked at my assistants manager and just said "glad that headache is gone" lol oh and this girl is 17 btw.
