Try Little Social. Good ambience, easy location just tucked away behind Regent Street, will always have one vegetarian starter and main option so depends on whether your daughter might want more choice. Very 'of the moment' and part of chef Jason Stherton's stable. Check current menu on website for an idea of food style.

Ah, I read this wrong and was thinking Christmas Day, when literally everything is closed. Christmas Eve you might have better luck, but many things are still closed or close early. Find a local in your daughter's neighborhood and stick close to home. In the UK, Christmas is a private, family holiday much more so than in the US.

My parents visited us a few years ago in London and had this same problem. Realize that Christmas in the UK is very different from here. Everything is closed and it is very difficult to get around. Cabs aren't running and my parents ended up walking across half of London on foot to get from their hotel to our apartment.

Nice thought, but given that it's just the two of us (and most of these seem to serve 6-8) and she is a vegetarian and I am not, it doesn't seem to be the most practical. We're fine staying low key and close to home for Christmas Day, but since the tube will still be open Xmas eve I thought we'd do something nicer then.

The nicer hotels will likely do something more traditional, but would be at the upper limit of your price range, if not totally blowing the budget. The year we were there, we had thai for xmas eve dinner.
I have to vote against Giraffe, just because I really can't stand that particular chain.
Check out The Only Running Footman in Mayfair -- it's an upscale pub, very cozy, will have veg options and more traditional christmas fare. I love that place.

But anywhere would be fine. All restaurants and hotels will have Christmas menus in the lead up and pretty much everywhere has multiple vegetarian options (I'm vegetarian myself and used to live in London).

OP again- I'm not a big fan of Indian myself, though DD has been trying to convince me. If we do go the Indian route, we'll likely do that Christmas day when a lot of the Indian places near DD (she lives in the East End) will be some of the few things open. Looking for something a bit more on the traditional side for Christmas Eve.

I'm visiting DD who is studying in London for Christmas. We realize that transport is closed Christmas Day, so would like to have a nicer meal on Christmas eve. Looking to spend around £25-50 per person, and DD is a vegetarian. Any suggestions?
