Or you could just brine it yourself. It's just salt and water.

I ordered an uncooked turkey from Whole Foods for Thanksgiving a few years ago and was very disappointed. There's was absolutely nothing special about that. Next time, I will try the Safeway or Giant ones.

But is the organic bird also free-range? With that price difference, I would hope so!

I do free range because it's more humane. (I just hate the idea of those animals packed immobile into small cages. And yes, I recognize that free range isn't that much better-- it's all factory farms with slaughter at the end. Just an emotional reaction.) I don't care about organic.

The 18-20 lb organic turkey is $30 more than the free range. It just became a moot point though. I need a 22-24 lb turkey and the organic only goes to 18-20 lbs at WholeFoods. If I order from them I have to go with free range (it is what we have always ordered in the past. Doesn't mean we have to continue ordering it though. I'm not against organic. Their site is just not very clear about the difference).

I got the free range last year / it's selling point is that it has more dark meat bc the turkeys develop more muscles...

Which would you pick? Honestly, I read the description and they sound similar, so don't know if I want to spend the extra money on organic or not. Someone sway me either direction.
