195k
10.5k/month

Insurance is free, DH deducts 10% for 401k, I deduct 0 bc I get 16% contribution from my employer

HHI: $160K
Take Home: $8000, give or take. (Spouse is hourly.)
Family of two, soon to be three any day now.

Appreciate this thread - was starting to wonder about my life choices with all the people posting 600K and 900K HHIs.

$309k/$15k

not sure if everyone is just using paystub x 2. I count monthly as paystub x 26 payperiods / 12 months since two months have an extra amount...

also it can be misleading as some over withhold to get refunds, in addition to differences in retirement contribution, insurance, etc.

Which makes me wonder why do I have the same take home as the OP?

Simple - taxes, insurance deductions, 401k contributions, etc. I only count as my "take-home" what I see on my paystub each month.

I also only count as take home what is on my paystub.

That is weird! (this is the op, the other person was not me). What are your insurance costs and family size pp? Also, DH's job contributes to his retirement with no match required from him. That takes a big chunk from people's paychecks. I'm just counting what I see on our bank statement at the end of the month. DH also gets paid biweekly so I'm not counting 2 extra paychecks each year as well.

I do contribute match for my retirement and have a "family insurance plan" for medical even though there are only 2 of us. I also maxed out on life insurance because I'm a single mom. So I guess that explains it.... It is kind of depressing though!

I was reading on some other thread awhile ago and someone with a much higher HHI than us was not actually taking home that much more each month. So that made me curious- I'll start:

HHI: 65k
Family size- couple with one dd
Take home after taxes/insurance: Just a hair under 4k
We live in MD.
