How do we define it, anyway? Is there an age difference threshold? Does the guy have to be already married? A dad? Does the gold digger have to be below a certain income threshold/education? Does it count only if they get married or can she just be a mistress?
Obviously, I'm giving this way too much thought.
A gold-digger is generally defined as a woman (of any age really, but generally one younger than the man) who opportunistically seeks out a wealthy, established, connected, or influential man (he need not be married, although he usually is) primarily for the advantages, opportunities, privileges and material wealth that an association with that man can provide her. A gold-digger might have certain education, status, wealth, connections, and influence in her won right, but not nearly as much as that of the man she seeks to associate with.
So, we're talking about women who pursue relationships with the intention "marrying up"? Sounds like a lot of folks. My dear wife is so noble that no one could ever accuse her of gold digging when she landed me. And, to my credit, I have crafted a lifestyle that will assure that no woman with the intention of gold digging would ever be tempted to steal me away from her.
