So, we're talking about women who pursue relationships with the intention "marrying up"? Sounds like a lot of folks. My dear wife is so noble that no one could ever accuse her of gold digging when she landed me. And, to my credit, I have crafted a lifestyle that will assure that no woman with the intention of gold digging would ever be tempted to steal me away from her.

In this town, it is not always obvious who the people with money are (power perhaps), so the job is a bit harder here.

As this area grows and prosper, so will its many opportunities.

A while back DC was voted the number 1 place for theft. Gold diggers will steal your old man.

new? no. I'm sure these types have always existed anywhere there are rich men.

We have all heard of the gold-digger stereotype in places like Dallas or Los Angeles, places where -- in the popular imagination -- pretty things search the workplace or the social scene for successful, wealthy, established, older men to fund the high lifes they desire.

However, we do not think of DC as such a place. Yet one of my married, male (college) friends has told me that in his field (northern VA technology) he has encountered a surprising number of this mold.

Is the gold-digger a new career opportunity in DC?
