Another point on Aslan, I love the name and I love Narnia so that's not a bad association. The other thing to know is that in the books Aslan is often taken as a Christ figure. That's not necessarily good or bad but you should know it before deciding.

American wife of Turkish-American family here. I like Emre (know at least one child named that here), but do see that it would possibly be mispronounced in the US (our daughter has what we thought would be an easy-to-pronounce, phonetic Turkish name and she constantly has to correct people and spell it...she wishes her name was Charlotte ). Also like Ziya and Evren. Agree with PP that Aslan will remind many people of the Chronicles of Narnia character.

I know a number of men named Ilya, which is a Russian and sometimes a Jewish name. I might not use Ilyas because I think there could be confusion.

My BFF has an Emre and it's super cute.

OP here. Emre is pronounced EM re. Means friend in Turkish but it's a fairly common name here. Thanks again for sharing your preferences!

All these names sound very futuristic (in a good way!) to me.

Evren - My favorite, I really like this one
Aydin - Reminds me of Aiden, I would pass
Ziya - Sounds feminine to me
Illyas - Like it.
Aslan - Like it, but also sounds feminine to me for some reason.
Emre - Could see liking this but not sure how to pronounce. Em-ruh? Em-ree?

I like Evren the most, actually, but I think that any of those names would be manageable.

Emre is my favorite. I know one Emre and Americans don't have trouble pronouncing it.

I think those are all very cool names, except Ziya sounds a little feminine to me, for a boy. And Aslan is the lion from the Chronicles of Narnia....but still a cool name My favorite off your list would probably be the first, Evren.

Evren is probably going to be confused with Evren and people will probably think you are coming up with a new way of spelling Aidan for Aydin. I like Aslan a lot and Ziya is a close second.

I'm Turkish and husband is American and we're looking for a Turkish boys name that would work in the US. Could you please give your thoughts on any of these names? Which do you like best?
