Students thrive more on stability of the staff rather than whether their classmates move during the year or not.

00:53 here. Yes, you should call the school to ask for a tour. PTA's also will usually welcome prospective parents to meetings; email the PTA president to inquire.

I currently work in a school of 75% FARMs and applied for (and received) a COSA for my son to attend the school instead of our neighborhood one, because it's so much better. We have plenty of playdates and there are many, many parents who make their children's education a top priority. FARMs, ESOL and mobility don't mean everything.

All of the new Crown Farm development is currently zoned for Rosemont as well. This will probably bring an influx of (generally) wealthier students, while also causing the school (along with others in the GBurg cluster) to be pretty crowded as Crown Farm starts to get built out. MCPS is currently studying adding a new elementary for this cluster, but it likely won't happen for several years.

Our 'hood is zoned there, although there are 3 closer elementary schools geographically to our house. Our kids go to private school (a decision that was independent of Rosemont), but the neighbor kids go there, and everyone seems happy. When we looked at the school, we determined we would be fine with it if the private route fell through.

The north side of King Farm in Rockville feeds to this school..with many educated parents.

I know several families with kids there now and they're very happy with the school.

So, your reply would be, "No, I don't have first-hand experience with Rosemont in Gaithersburg."

I knew a few families with children there a few (less than 4) years ago. They lived within walking distance of the school and were happy. Don't let the snobs on this board scare you away from all schools with a higher FARMS number; that does not automatically make a school bad.
