The book is the real deal, very dark. Movie is typical Hollywood fantasy version, common for the era.

I still love the movie. Loved the story and can appreciate the risk and independence involved during the time it was made.

I think it was just cooler than other movies from that time period, with a slightly edgy female main character. We view it differently in retrospect.

I like the movie and think it has stood the test of time. It is over 50 years old at this point!

I suspect it was pretty risqué for 1961. While you might quibble with her values, I like Holly's independence. And the fashions are awesome.

Op here. It is an *okay* film. I just think that it is a typical love story type movie. Like I don't see anything iconic about it.

It is actually a pretty crappy movie. It seems like a movie that no one really likes, but we all fawn over because we are told its a classic.

Does anyone else agree?
