We has two when the federal limits were higher but my employer capped our donations at $2000. So I did $2000 and my husband did $3000.

It didn't matter which one of us carried the insurance, all family mmebers were covered by both accounts.

The two accounts did nothing to make sure there was no double dipping. I believe your fear of the IRS should take care of that.

Now that the household limits have dropped, we do one account through my husband's employer. I still carry the health insurnace and and the DCA through mine.

I always thought we could only have one per family, but some recent research shows that we can indeed have two.

One would be tied to DH's insurance, which covers the whole family, and the other would be through my employer.

How does this work exactly? How does FLEX #2 confirm that you aren't double dipping? It's hard for me to imagine how it would work.
