Look at the title, smarty. It says northEstern. There is a missing letter, meaning the missing letter could either be an A (making it Northeastern) or the missing letter could be a W (making it Northwestern).

I was a criminal justice major and co-oped for state govt., a police department, and a district attorney's office. Great experiences.
Northwestern doesn't have a football team either. How they stay in the Big 13 or 15 or whatever conference they are in is beyond me.

I went to Northeastern, graduated 8 years ago. Beautiful campus, very modern, nice cafeterias, gym, dorms, etc. Right in the heart of Boston, great location. Everything is walkable and there is a T (metro) stop right on campus.

Northestern obviously refers to Ester, Alaska, outside of Fairbanks. OP, the northern part of that campus is great. I think there is a creek or something too. And a village square. Not so sure about the academics, however.

This. Guessing you mean Northwestern since they have top engineering and business programs. Don't forget about law and medicine, too. Not sure about now but they used to have a problem with racism among the student body. The campus is in Evanston, a nice upper middle class neighborhood about a ten minute drive up the Lake from downtown Chicago. Students can take the L into the city; very convenient. Remember that it's in Chicago, where it will be freezing cold most of the year. DC can go to football games. I'm always a little surprised they have a respectable football program. If DC later decides to go onto grad school, the business school is in the top five and the law school is also highly ranked and has a beautiful view of the Lake.

DH loved Northeastern. I think he had a tough time in grade school, but managed to do ok at Northeastern and also found great work on campus in his field that he really enjoyed.

Visited Northeastern this summer. We were really impressed. They have the highest 6-month job placement number of any college in the United States. The school is very high-tech, innovative, and on the rise.
The co-op program makes for a very long time there, though. Five years seemed to be the norm, but many students are in paid positions during their co-ops. Not a lot of summer time off there. The students seem very serious.
There seemed to be a very-businesslike vibe around the whole school. That seemed to be the main focus although they do have a lot of other schools.
DD is going to apply, which surprised us.

When I was in Boston a while back they were known for their co-op program-- where you can spend a semester working in a job related to what you study. People seemed to find it very valuable (learning what the working world was really like and making connections).

Campus is modern and attractive. They offered lots of merit aid to kids we know.
I think it would be a good option for DC, except my understanding is that you choose a particular school and you can't take classes otside your school above the 100 level. So if you're in the Music school, you can take Lit 100 (or whatever the equivalent is) but not that seminar on Shakespeare, and vice versa with Lit majors not being able to take upper-level courses on Bach.
