That's what I've been hearing too.

Highly recommend Woodlin community. Most of our neighbors send their kids to Sligo and love it despite the bad press.

We live in Woodside Park and love Woodlin.

Our older son is at Einstein and we love that too. Sligo MS was just ok - not great, but ok. Then again, I think many people would say that about their local middle schools.

Woodside is fabulous, but the majority of families do not send their children to Sligo MS. That should be your biggest concern, if you're planning to stay longer term.

Hmmm.... that's not what I'm seeing. An overwhelming number of our nieghbors are sending their kids to Sligo. Exceptions are those who have kids in magnets. Also a couple of kids who are attending privates, but in these cases kids were in private for elementary, too.

We live in Montgomery Hills - there are so many down to earth people here and we love Woodlin! This is the most comfortable I have ever felt living anywhere.

Silver Spring parent here. Know nothing about Ashburton. But neighborhood you're looking at over here is great and everyone loves Woodlin. If you like the neighborhood and feel, go for it.

We are near the Wildwood shopping center, and have one child at Ashburton, with the other child starting next year. Honestly, we never had that "neighborhood feel" until the start of elementary school. But now it is great! I don't find it at all snobby. We also go to the Wildwood Manor pool during the summer, which is very welcoming and friendly. It's pretty small, but has a great neighborhood vibe. I really don't know enough about Silver Spring to offer any comparison, though.

Are you here for the long-term?

If your child is one and a half, I wouldn't worry about which middle schools and high schools are better. A lot can change between now and when your child starts middle school/high school. I would go with the neighborhood that works better for the whole family.

Ashburton/Wildwood parent here. I don't know the other neighborhood or school so I can't compare. But we love our neighborhood and I promise we're not snobs! Lots of friendly people here. It's a nice place to live.

I do sometimes wish there was more of a walkable feel other than walking to/through the Wildwood shopping center. But at least we have that. And a good school, couple of good parks, convenience to metro, etc.

Hello all! We are relocating to Maryland from Belgium for my husband's work in DC (near metro center) and have spent this week here searching for a home. We finally found two we like and can afford, one in Montgomery hills, Silver Spring, and the other in Bethesda close to Wildwood shopping. I am very divided. The schools in Bethesda sound like they are better on the rankings, for what that's worth. On the other hand, I very much fell in love with the Montgomery Hills neighbourhood in Silver Spring and parents in the park seemed quite happy with Woodlin Elementary. But middle/ high schools in Bethesda are better? At the same time, I worry the Bethesda neighbourhood is too snobby and I'll feel isolated since I'm currently home with my 1 1/5 yo and am not AT ALL the snobby type. AAACCKKK! Please, help! Any input very much welcome!
