I have heard that Whitehall is getting Spanish immersion. Nice for the folks in Bowie but what about the rest of us.

The tuition for Maryland International School, first year, is around $16,150. Factor in another $400 ($20 a day) in aftercare each month. For a first student, you are looking at roughly $2,000 per month.

For those of us located in challenging school zones, $2,000 each month plus the increase in commuting costs is very expensive.

I thought small classes was a good thing as often mentioned on this forum.
My understanding is that 1) it started off smaller and has been expanding only recently since obtaining a building (hasn't it only been a year?) so the older grades are smaller because of that but if you are entering as a JK or K right now going forward that shouldn't be as much of an issue by the time they are in older grades 2) it is harder to enter the school in later years if not up to speed in Spanish as it is an immersion school..so that also contributes to some smaller older grades.
Can you elaborate on why it is too high for what they are offering?

I have been in touch with a group that submitted a charter application last year. The school was called Maryland International Preparatory. The founder is Harvard educated, a teacher , former principal charter founder and a parent. Her passion for growing 21st century students who are citizen-scholars in Two languages was quite persuasive. She's also an advocate for IB beginning at age 3.

Does Dr. Maxwell know about this proposal and the group if educators behind Maryland International Preparatory?

The state of maryland has information on the website about opening a charter and current charter applications. You might also look at DC for more information on the charter process--they seem to process more of the applications than maryland.

I think it would be terrific....

What are your thoughts on Prince Georges County supporting the opening of a charter school that offers Primary Years International Baccalaureate Program and English/Spanish , English/French K-8 school? Does anyone know why there is no Request for Application to open a charter school in SY2015.
