OP, the year my DS was there in K there were 8 students. Honestly, I would have preferred 4. It was a little to much with that specific grouping IMO. With 4 students it's almost like being home schooled (which I find a plus). In addition, K-2 often do things together (lunch, PE, etc).

Tour Maddux as well. I believe their K is a little bigger. Although they only go until 2nd, so you will be looking again in a couple of years.

+1 OT and Speech will be part of the day and is immersed in to the curriculum. Mclean will not include OT and speech. You will pay extra for that. Maddux teachers are really top notch.

A former CDS parent here, and I concur. It is a wonderfully nurturing school that can give your child a gentle start to school. My DS had some developmental delays - very mild - and the school was a great place for him.

Have you considered Country Day School in Mclean--they have a really small K program that is wonderful. It would not help you for first grade and up but you could use that year to work with your son and they could help you with first grade place as well as what are the best schools to help him. Other schools to think about are Lab School which is right over the bridge. Maybe Norwood but it's larger so not sure if that would be overwhelming. We are located in N. Arlington. We are looking for a Kindergarten for our son with some mild social skills and pragmatic challenges. He also has some anxiety and attention issues, but not formally diagnosed with anything. He has been in OT/speech/social skills for some time. We did hold him back this year due to his late August birthday.

We are thinking of private schools. Any fit the bill? We are touring Mclean School tomorrow.
