My MIL puts down my FIL at every possible opportunity. They have been divorced for 25 years and have spoken exactly twice in that time period (don't even ask how they shared custody...).

I think it is for their age group. My MIL is an avid square dancer; she took it up late in life. She even goes to square dancing conventions and competitions. My MIL doesn't say funny things. Funny is as funny does, in her case.

Hahaha, PP! This sounds like my MIL.

My MIL is obsessed with the Myers Briggs personality types. She tries to explain everyone's behavior by what she perceives their "type" is. Like, "Oh, Bill baked a cherry pie rather than pumpkin because he's INFJ." She does this to total strangers, and even celebrities, as well as people she knows. Every conversation is peppered with this nonsense.

The funniest part is that I remember clearly when she first discovered this, and she said then that she was an extrovert (E), while now she insists she is an introvert (I). She is the least introverted person I have ever met.

It's important for kids to have lots of sugary treats because they need energy.

That she understands why we don't get along, it must be hard for me competing with her for my DH's affection/attention! LOL

She still complains about my FIL. They've been divorced for 40 years.
