We visited Denison and it reminded me of a liberal arts college version of a good suburban public high school. Same mix of kids. It's a beautiful setting, on a hill overlooking the charming town of Granville, and the facilities we toured looked excellent. Everyone was super friendly. My DD went ahead and applied and got a large scholarship offer -- if i recall it was $20k per year -- but she's a city slicker and wasn't buying. You can easily look at Wooster, Kenyon and Oberlin on the same trip -- that's a good cross section of the SLAC world.

Admittedly never heard of it! But there are many I do not know...we are just starting to look at colleges.

We flew to Columbus on SW and rented a car when we visited. Granville is a cute town. You could also visit Kenyon or some of the other Ohio schools at the same time. I think Kenyon was less than an hour away.

Denison is known for providing a lot of merit aid. I gather most accepted students get some kind of offer. My DD ended up not applying so don't know what specifically they would have offered.

It seemed like a nice school. They play up their famous alums - as I recall Steve Carrell and Jennifer Garner went there and at least when we visited both were on the Board of Trustees.

Hi OP, I graduated from there in 2008. I have nothing but good things to say about it, as do most of my friends. If you'd like to contact me privately, I can sign in and you can send me a message. I feel like I wouldn't write a post that could do it justice/answer many questions and perhaps messaging might be easier.

My DD has told me she would like to visit this school. Any alumni here who could tell me a little bit about it? It's in Granville Ohio, so it would be quite a drive for us.
