I wonder when the market will saturate. Seems like an interesting thing to study, but there is also reality in terms of marketability.

are they? supposedly what's "in" is CS.

my sister told me at her lac, cs courses that were 50-75% full her freshman year are now oversubscribed by a factor of 2x-3x.

Crime has been on the decline for years - DC was the "murder capital" and Times Square was a disaster a generation ago.

The CSI effect is real, just as LA LAW lead to a boom in law school apps. Sadly, pop culture is the window to the world for many.

1. Media glamorization of cops.

2. Fundamental changes in other employment, such that the average cop now makes a very attractive living (certainly the same as, or better than, what most college grads are now paid), receives attractive benefits, and cannot be fired absent criminal conduct.

3. Declining availability of traditional white-collar jobs for Bachelors-only grads.

4. Old-fashioned student loan marketing schemes. A degree in Crim Justice typically isn't required; being a cop at any level (local, state, Federal) is all about the civil service hiring process and Vet benefits play a major point-scoring role. So some colleges market Criminal Justice degrees that provide exactly zero vocational opportunity.

I notice lots of young people going into these areas. Are there jobs? Will the market become saturated?
