OP here - she hasn't received any notes home - except a few saying she's had a great day. She occasionally (1x per week) goes to yellow for chatting or day dreaming but nothing requiring much intervention. This is very confusing to me

My second grader got an N last year in that and by the report card it was an I. PRG, progressing. Sometimes it takes kids a while to settle in. Email the teacher and ask. Are they getting a lot of notes home in the agenda book or red cards? This is what this normally means.

OP, the I under Social Studies refers to what your child has learned in class. It doesn't refer to the child's social skills or ability to come up with compromises. Those are assessed under Learning Skills.

Have you seen this?

OP here. I have emailed the teacher. Just wondering whether there was any insight from other families. This is our first time with MCPS and 2.0 so perhaps I was (secretly) hoping for a 'positive' explanation for it :S

I wouldn't worry about the I in Culture but the N in Rules and regulations would be concerning. I would email the teacher and ask for a meeting.

If I were you, I would e-mail the teacher and ask.

Just received DD's interim report card and she has received an N for Rules and Regulations under work habit. N apparently means Not Yet Evident. What does that mean? Is she having behavioral problems? I haven't received any notes home or complaints so far - this is quite worrying to me. She also received an I for Culture (under Social Studies) - which includes Social interactions, and multiple perspectives - conflict and compromise. Is this referring to their personal social skills or their ability to come up with solutions to hypothetical problems or situations in the class?
The report card is not very informative to me
