Not necessarily true. My DD still had a back tooth that looked pretty vulnerable to a cavity forming. Since the tooth probably wasn't going to fall out anytime soon, the dentist sealed it to protect it. It's quite common to seal baby teeth especially since cavities can set in quickly and, if that cavity is not treated, the infection and damage can go to the root and become a bigger and more painful problem.
The unfortunate thing was most insurance companies won't cover it so it was an out of pocket expense.
