I love my spare freezer. I store a lot of breads, cheese, fruit, and other things that aren't necessarily ruined when they thaw, so I don't worry as much as some others about power. And it will stay cold if its full and you don't open it for a day or two when the power goes out.
I just upgraded from a chest freezer (opens from the top) to a stand-up (looks like a fridge). I am getting ready to post my chest freezer on Craigs List for sale for $75. Not much investment to try it out.

We are a family of 6 and I like to cook a lot ahead of time. Has anyone purchased a spare freezer lately? Any recommendations? I do not want to get something huge as power outages and loss of huge amounts of food scare me!! Any thoughts or ideas before I buy? TIA!
