Don't quit but look around since you could be let go, be prepared, network, check out job sites.

My hours were recently reduced by my employer - as were many others who work with me - because of the new Obamacare rules. If they keep us under 30 hours per week (we're all at 25 now), they don't have to offer us health insurance. OP, sorry for your situation, but maybe business is in fact very bad. I would also brush up my LinkedIn profile and look for jobs posted there as well.

Yes I would also say that you can't afford any more hours to be cut. And be firm. Then you can collect unemployment and look for a new job, if they fire you.

Also, I think you can get partial unemployment if your hours are cut. It might depend on your state, though. . .

Op here. Thanks for your advice. Pp I think you are totally right. But in definitely not going to quit. Luckily my resume in order and I have been quietly reaching out to people in my industry for other job leads. I just hate not knowing what's really going on. Will keep u all posted!

Things may be going worse than you think, OP. The lack of a response means #1) Things are so bad that they are thinking of letting you go or #2) Things are so bad that they can't deal with your situation, so small it is compared with the business's larger problems.

Please start getting your resume polished and contact headhunters. It does not sound promising for you, and you are much better off looking for a job while you have one. Don't quit!! No good in that, and you'll have a much harder time finding a new job if you do. Good luck to you. Keep us posted.

In house. Recently business has been hurting and my salary was reduced, along with my hours, with the promise from the owners that this was just a temporary situation until things turned around. Not ideal of course but I figured I could stick it out for a short while. This past week I have tried to set up a meeting with my boss to discuss, plan etc and she has not responded to my emails or texts since Wednesday. I'm starting to think maybe they want me to quit to avoid having to let me go and pay unemployment? I have worked there for a few years and have always gotten positive feedback. Not sure what to do next.
