I have a child in the Einstein district as well and we are happy with it (mine in still in ES). For your price point, you can get a decent home and a decent school district in a safe, convenient area with really nice, down to earth people. And you would be right in the middle of your two jobs.

Is the school system rated as highly on greatschools? No. But I think that site is a bunch of BS anyway so that holds no weight with me. I am telling you from personal experience, the schools are fine and I think you will find the community, house and convenience that you are looking for if you look in the areas of Kensington that are in your price range.

Many areas in Silver Spring are within that price point as well and Rosemary Hills is also great but your options will be limited in Rosemary Hills at that price point.

I will add, we have two kids at Einstein and love the school. Ignore the PP.

My mistake, I looked at homes that had sold in the past year and there were none there under $500K, but I didn't look at active listings. That is a great deal.

I also saw the home on Reddick (white brick) that PP posted. Great home and neighborhood, but fairly small kitchen and no driveway, if that matters to you.

Perhaps consider just outside the beltway in Silver Spring.

Friends in the area have been happy with OTES and the newly opening Flora Singer elem. schools. Forest Glen metro is nearby.

New to area and looking into purchasing a home-more like financing of course.
Working parents, one in downtown Bethesda and one in downtown Silver Spring. We did a simple search online and consider the home prices in the area of Bethesda expensive. Can't afford 1M. Would like home prices less than 500k, good school area, good community, single family home, doesn't have to be a big home, commute to Bethesda and Silver Spring within 30 minutes, prefer close to public transportation. What Elem schools around here are good ? Do they feed into good public schools?
