Um I'll pass. I'd happily take a younger guy, as I tend to meet, over a guy 16 years older. Who wants to be with a 65yo at age 49?

As someone in a May-December marriage, I'd point out the obvious which is that age differences mean different things at different stages in life.

At 25, you probably thought nothing of dating a 29yr old. But would you let your 14yr old daughter date an 18yr old guy?

DH and I are 15yrs apart. Would have been creepy had I been 15 and he was 30, or if I were his 4yr old child bride when he was 19 it would be sick. In our 30s and 40s as independent, educated, accomplished professionals though, not a big deal.

I realize it's a silly post, but I also know a few men who have remarried women 16-17 years their junior. Isn't that the difference between Newt and Calista Gingrich, too? I'm too tired to look it up. I realize the plural of anecdote is not data, but OP's post isn't that out there.

I am simply stating that since many divorce and remarriages end up with this 16-year age difference, then perhaps these men should save their peers the trouble and wait until they are 43, and the younger women they eventually plan to marry in any case are 27, to finally marry.


Sorry about your low IQ. What are the divorce stats for these marriages?

OP does not make the claim that the 16-year age difference is good or bad, or will result in fewer or more eventual divorces. As I read it, OP is simply making the claim that in their experience, men who divorce and then remarry a younger woman, will typically remarry a woman who is somewhere around 16 years younger than them.


Agree + 1. Note that the OP sarcastically puts "perfect" in quotation marks. I think the OP is being critical of the age difference if you ask me.
