But that's the norm.

We are having the family at the Baptism, but there will be like 20 people. Then a party afterwards with about 35 people. There will be kids, singles, couples, gays, seniors, and all kinds at the party.

It is my understanding we are the only Baptism that day. I have been in close contact with the Priest over the last few months. I feel comfortable with him and like him even though we do not see eye to eye. We have agreed to disagree and I do like him and feel a special bond.

I invited the priest to the rehersal dinner - he was not available but appreciated the invitation.

For baptism - it depends on what you are doing afterwards as well as the type of ceremony it is. Is the baptism a large event with many families? Just for your child? Did they schedule a special event just for you?

If it is a large baptism, I would just say thanks, make a donation to the church and go on. If it is an sacrement just for your child, I would invite him.

I would think yes. The priest who married us came to our rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding.

My grandmother wouldn't have allowed a priest into our front parlour.

Yes, it's fine to invite him. At the party, just treat him as any of your other guests. Best wishes!

Yes, do invite him. He's probably so busy he won't be able to attend, but he'll appreciate the offer.

-Some priests drink, others don't. Why don't you just provide an assortment of drinks, and let him decide?

Invite him - he probably won't come. Priests are stretched very thin these days and have very busy schedules.

Is that weird? I mean I am friendly with him although we don't see eye to eye on some major issues. But I think he seems like a nice guy and he has helped me a lot with this Baptism thing. Not sure what to do!

Am I supposed to do this? Is it expected, appropriate? Do I ask him to join us for cake and drinks after the Baptism of my kids?
