Hershey is fun for all ages and very pretty over Christmas. They have a zoo as we'll and many new things to do inside the chocolate factory (the store and simulated ride area I mean)

Would not recommend Hershey over Christmas. The lodge is a dump and the hotel is so expensive and the food is really not great.

we went to the Greenbrier over Christmas. They do a great job with families. Food was good. Indoor Pool, sleigh rides, bowling alley, lots of scheduled activities, bowling alley, spa. Lots of families young and old there so your teenagers would find lots of people to hang with at night.

NY is really fun at Christmas but really crowded and expensive for hotel rooms. Easily runs $400 a night for a small room.

Williamsburg. The Inn is gorgeous. The wreaths and festivities are fun and family friendly.

NYC - shop during the days and enjoy nice dinners and Broadway Shows in the evenings.

Nemacolin poster here -- Bedford does get boring this time of year, so I wouldn't recommend that.

Nemacolin could work -- they have houses you can rent but you could also take advantage of the indoor pool and the kids' activities at the resort.

We enjoy Salamander in Middleburg.

Sorry I can't actually recommend a specific place but what about something on the Jersey Shore or even Bethany Beach. You could rent a house on the water or close by. Take some board games, let the children play outside alot, build a fire, make smores, plus do a little outlet shopping.

Or what about Seven Springs in PA - skiing and tons of outside acitivities plus probably an indoor pool.

No the Lodge at Woodloch is a spa for adults only (its Heavenly, but not for kids). Maybe you mean the family resort Woodloch? OP have you looked at Greenbrier, Wisp or Nemocolin?

My family of 5 is looking for a special place to spend the Christmas holiday with my sister & her 3 kids. Her husband died this year and the holidays are going to be pretty awful. I looked at the the Homestead (which seemed kind of stuffy given the dress code) and the Omni at Bedford (which seems potentially boring that time of year).

I think almost anything goes: we could rent a quiet house/cabin in the woods somewhere, and just be together and cook our own meals, or we could stay at a hotel with a pool & restaurants.

Can anyone recommend a resort or rental cabin somewhere driving distance from DC and Philadelphia? Thank you for any ideas.
