My dad was at Asbury, that is a great place, best to move in when you are young enough to enjoy all the activities. My dad moved in when he was 85 so he didn't do many of the activities, but as a daughter, it was great just knowing that people were checking in with him, he was eating and doing stuff.

I second the recommendation for Del Webb. My aunt and uncle live in the Del Webb community in Ashburn (Potomac Green):

and my in-laws live in one in Fishers, IN, outside of Indianapolis called Britton Falls:

I do have another aunt and uncle who live in The Villages, and they seem to love it too. I did not realize it is considered pricey. I know they bought it a long time ago (at least 25 years ago). . .before they were even retired.

Can anyone recommend a nice active "senior community" for my mother? She is age 70 and a retired college professor. She is very well-read and very active but she currently lives in a town in Massachusetts where there are not many other people her age to do activities with. She is very social but she is single and feels awkward always going places by herself. A lot of her friends are married or have moved out of the area. My siblings and I think she should move to a senior community such as "the Villages" in Florida, where she would have lots of opportunities to make new friends and try new things. However, the Villages is expensive and although she has some resources, she is not wealthy. She has two children in the DC area; one child in Mass.; one child in California; and one child in Florida, so she is flexible about where she lives. Any suggestions?
