above pp again, If your older child can get in and out of her own seat easily I would prob put her in the middle, just to free up the space on one side. If she cant then I would have her behind the driver.

I would def have the infant behind the passenger. I think its hard to life a bucket seat in and out of the middle position of a large SUV ( I have a Pilot).
If baby is behind passenger you can see her easier with one of the mirrors on the headrest, just by looking in your mirror or a quick turn around.
I found if DD was behind driver it was harder for me to see her.

I would space them out so the toddler does not have access to the baby while you are driving. At least not till you feel confident in her.

My wife and I have been trying to install our Radian forward facing in the center of the 2nd row in a Toyota Highlander but have not been able to get it tight enough to fit safely. Does anyone have any tips or procedures for the install in the centre seat of a Highlander? Twins on the way so we need to know if it will work. The buckle for the center seat is pretty long which seems to be the issue for me, just too much play even once I get it as tight as possible.

In our Highlander we have one behind the driver and one in the middle. No problem with infant seat and then a Radian.

I have twins. We also have a Highlander. The car seats go behind the driver and passenger.

We have a 2010 Highlander, and have three carseats across:

- Britax Frontier (Frontier 85, I'm pretty sure, which I just saw is retired as of last month) is behind driver's seat for my 3 yo
- Britax Frontier (same as above) is in middle for my 4 yo
- Britax Diplomat (retired), rear facing for my 2 yo, is behind passenger's seat

We had them installed by Montgomery County's carseat program, and the folks there are fantastic. The only one on latch is the Diplomat, but they all fit fine -- tight, but fine. Since a rear facing carseat is the safest, and because I had to get that child in and out, we put that seat behind the passenger's seat -- so that is was easily accessible (but also in the worst position for a crash as middle is best followed behind the driver's seat -- hoping that the rear facing would somewhat even out the fact that it's behind the passenger seat). The youngest is about to outgrow the rear-facing seat, so I will look for the smallest width carseat to either keep in the same place or to put in the middle, with the two Frontiers on either side. The choices I'm looking at are the Clek Foonf and the Diono Radian.

Before we put in the Diplomat, we had the Britax Chaperone in that same spot (behind passenger's seat). And there are other seats out there now that are even smaller width-wise that would work, e.g., Maxi Cosi for one, I think.

When we had only two kids, we placed two carseats in the middle and behind the driver (Chaperone and Diplomat). That way, an adult could easily sit in the backseat.

Agree with a previous poster, make sure the back seats are all the way back as far as they go.

Also, you can use MoCo's carseat program even if you don't live in MoCo. Emilie Crown runs it, and she and her husband, who also volunteers for the program, are top notch.

Yes, sometimes the kids get in each other's space, but they are used to this configuration and it works well for all of us. Good luck!

Just find seats that fit next to each other. Or, put baby behind the driver. Some stores will allow you to test the carseats in your car.

I can get 3 carseats into a Ford Fiesta Hatchback, given the right combination of carseats. Ironically, 2 Diono Radians did not fit but one Diono Radian helped immensely with the having enough space for the other two seats.

I have a preschooler and infant twins:

Diono Radians three across. Infants on the end, rear facing. Preschooler in the middle. We have the second row adjusted all the way back. I would think you coud easily do a Britax and infant seat next to each other (we had the radian and two Graco snugrides for awhile). If you only have two kids in back, you might want to take advantage and give them some space - nothing worse than one of them freaking out because the other is touching them...

For ease of getting them in and out I would put them on the sides.
If you need to put a 3rd seat in or a 3rd person I would move the Britax to the middle and leave the bucket on the side.
I have the Pilot and the same scenario and this is how I do it. The think the Pilot and Highlander are the same size.

We have a highlander and a Britax for our toddler as well. We have her behind the driver and the infant behind the passenger. It just didn't work to get them side by side.

There are some really detailed carseat sites and blogs out there; try googling specifically "front facing and rear facing in a highlander" or something like that. Depending on where you live either the police or fire department can help.

Having done a bunch of searching on these sites to figure out our particular configuration, one thing I gleaned is that you want the best, most secure fit for each seat, regardless of position. Good luck!

Just put both on the passenger. Ideal is middle but if not possible its ok.

We have a Toyota Highlander and have my daughter in a Britax carseat behind the passenger seat. We are expecting a baby and trying to figure out where to put the infant bucket seat. Ideally we would put it in the middle, but it doesn't seem to fit well. Has anyone else made it work? If so, any tips? If we don't put it in the middle, would we put the baby behind the passenger and the big carseat behind the driver?
