No, not a joke. I seriously want to know what would happen. Would that company still collect payments from families and not pay their employees? I have a terrible feeling that that is exactly what would happen.

Our NIH daycare will close if there is a shutdown.

The information we got at NASA Goddard in April 2011 (when we came within an hour of a shutdown) was that it would stay open only for excepted workers who were authorized to work, and they would consolidate classes/staff as much as possible. I assume this varies from site to site.

If there is a government shut down there would be no security guards. Therefore no daycare.

They did in 1995--at least the ones within federal buildings. If the buildings shut down or operate at severely reduced capacity with only a few essential personnel then GSA would not staff the front desks anyway. In buildings with a mix of federal and non federal clients, it could vary.

It depends on the daycare and the security situation in the building. Ours would close, but tuition would still be due. Sucks.

Ask during drop off tomorrow. I plan to.

Does anyone know? I haven't heard anything from our daycare- and shutdown is looking more likely...
