That's what was great about being a federal contractor. I was told I was being laid off via email and didn't have to do anything with HR before I left; no exit interview, just leave my badge and laptop with my boss. It's as if I didn't exist anymore.

People will start coming to you to say goodbye and, in my experience in leaving a couple of jobs, will start sharing all sorts of gossip that you never would have heard if you stayed.

Congrats on giving notice, since it's clear that was what you wanted! Are you on to another job or taking time off?
