About 20 years ago, while driving to a business appointment on the Eastern Shore, I stopped at a Hardees drive-thru to get breakfast. I paid with a 20, but received change as if I paid with a 10. Being young and kind of a self-righteous jerk, I demanded the girl's name and threatened to come back to talk with the manager and generally threw a fit. I did return later that day on the way back from my appointment, and their accounting had by then proven that I was right. They apoologized profusely and paid me the difference. In later years, I've often wondered if I cost that girl her job. I hope not. To this day, when I pay for anything anywhere, I clearly say "Out of 20" as I'm handing over the bill, so there is no confusion. And I try to be less of a jerk.

I worked at a Chick-fil-A in college. Sometimes in a rush I would accidentally count 11 or 13 nuggets into a 12 nugget box. It was definitely a huge conspiracy to track people into thinking they were going to get 12 nuggets when they WEREN'T!! Congrats OP, you are one of the few in the country smart enough to cotton onto the Secret Society of the Chicken Cheaters. Please just keep quiet or else our Illuminati may come after you.

Eh, when I order a big bucket of food, I find 80% of the time they get it right and the rest of the time it's pretty evenly split between one more and one less. It all comes out in the wash.

Agreed. Fast food workers frequently make mistakes. It's the nature of trying to get work done fast. Now, many of the fast food businesses have timers on all orders and the goal is to get all orders filled in under X time. That means that the workers often just process as fast as they can go, especially if there is a line. That encourages mistakes. So, I will either stop and check my order or pull forward (so the next car can get to the window) and stop to count my order. It takes 10-15 *SECONDS* to check your order before you leave the restaurant, so just count your order before you leave.

But this does take the cake for the stupidest rant/vent ever.

I think KFC did you a favor.

They made a mistake. Don't read too much I to it. The McDonalds up the road on Darnestown sucks, too. I get happy meals for my son because he mostly wants the toys, and they try to pass off the prior toy campaign instead. Or give out a girl toy instead of a boy toy. Sit there and check your order before you drive away.

My sister and I call this "getting fucked at the drive-through."

We never leave any store where someone puts together our order before we've checked to confirm each thing we've ordered is there, just like when someone gives us change we confirm they gave us the right change.

What do you mean is thus normal? Shit happens. Call and speak to the manager and tell them what happened if it's the same day. If not let it go and check what you ordered before driving out of parking lot. I have twice ordered burgers at wendy's that arrived with no meat. Folks fixin' your food aren't paid much.

I walked in KFC at 9910 Key West Ave, MD yesterday and ordered special deal: 6 pieces , 1 large size and 3 biscuits for $9.99 for take out yesterday evening.
When I got home, I got only 5 pieces. I am shock that the employee at KFC can not count to 6 or the employee only wanted to put 5 pieces.
This is the second time at this location. The first time was a while ago, I ordered drive - through with the deal 10 pieces for $9.99 and got home with 9 pieces only.
The first time, I did call the store as soon as I got home. KFC told me to come back to get my missing 1 piece. I told KFC that I do NOT drive back for 1 piece of chicken!!!
However, please don't do that to other customers. With the 6 pieces deal, I thought about open it up and count. But I thought that no way they cheat on me with 6 pieces because 6 is just small number to count. Boy, I was wrong. I did call the store and asked to talk to the manager this time. But the manager will not be at work until 3:30 pm Today. My DH said that don't make a big deal because the employee may be in trouble because I have the name of the cashier and she also was the one to fill my order. I don't want the employee in trouble because of one piece of chicken but at the same time it is wrong to give less chicken than I order. I need my chicken fix only 1 every few months. I also orderd at other store "P" too, but I don't have this problem. Is this normal to get less than you order from KFC ? Should I train my brain to accept that it is normal ?
