Did your child do a magnet MS program as well, or a choice program? What math did he/she do prior to starting the Wheaton program? And was he/she a big math/tech kid?
Did they also apply to other magnet programs?

What are the other kids in the program like? Do they really come from all over the DCC?

What about socially ... since it's a small group, what do you think of the social opportuntiies at the school for kids who are in so many classes together? How's the rest of the school? And is Wheaton your home school?

I am also interested in your comments about AP US History. Are you saying that they get enrichment and challenge outside of the magnet classes?

what does AP history in the freshman year have to do with engineering???

It's a wonderful program where the magnet freshmen take AP US History and the school offers after school enrichment course to the AP US History students. Of course, the students also have intro to engineering course and engineering design course right away in 9th grade in addition to honors courses in the other subject areas. My child, who is interested in science and engineering, enjoys it and likes all his teachers who seem to be very technologically savvy judging from the back to school night activities...

Does anyone have any experience with this? it's an application program they started up last year that looks pretty cool.
